Challenge: Columbus Regional Healthcare System was experiencing some turnover in all of its positions (nursing, technical, housekeeping, etc.) and was looking for the best and most affordable way to fill these openings. NAS suggested doing an Employee Referral Program that was creative, fun and catchy. The client liked the idea and suggested a "Star Search" theme for "working" purposes, but wanted an idea that was a little more "out there." One idea they mentioned was a surgeon with a surgical mask over his face (making him look like a bank robber) with a "WANTED" theme. This example showed us that the hospital was more open-minded about having a fun idea.
Solution:
We developed an ERP (posters, two-fold brochures, letterhead, coffee mugs, and mouse pads) that featured three people being whisked away on a gurney pushed by two people in lab coats. The original headline was "MORE GOOD PEOPLE. STAT!" The client liked it, but unfortunately there was a competitive company in the area called Stat so we changed the headline to "MORE GOOD PEOPLE. QUICK!" It still had the same flavor, and it created a sense of urgency/timeliness to the employees.
Results:
The program has been a huge success. After nine months, they had received 593 referrals and made 137 hires. The program has also raised employee awareness and boosted employee morale.
