  • Our 2024 AAPPR Conference Review

    NAS attended the recent AAPPR Conference in Virginia Beach, along with our M3USA sister companies. We were able to meet many physician recruiters and listen to several insightful presentations from thought leaders across the physician and provider recruitment profession.

    The NAS team included Matt Adam (SVP, Chief Talent Strategist), Paul Hernandez (VP, Business Development) and Daniel O’Neill (VP, Talent Strategy). They all agreed that the well-attended conference was a positive experience and offered many insights into the current state of physician and provider recruitment.

    We were able to speak to many physician and provider recruiters, who were eager to share their needs. According to Matt, “There was great energy at the conference. It was a positive experience and we had lots of great conversations this year.” Daniel reiterated that “the vibe of the conference was both energetic and welcoming and attendees were engaged with conference activities throughout the week.”

    Provider recruiters were eager to talk about the career site experience and the need for better career sites overall, as well as the importance of employer branding and storytelling for physicians and advanced practice providers.

    “There was also a lot of discussion around DEI and addressing the shortage of physicians and nurses,” added Paul. “I talked to many recruiters, all of whom were struggling to attract physicians to their healthcare systems and felt the pressure of a competitive talent landscape,” said Daniel. Several individuals from rural health systems discussed their challenges in bringing talent to their areas.

    Another trend we noticed was an increasing interest in using AI to both improve automation and human errors in the recruiting process. “Yes, AI was a big topic for the conference this year,” said Matt. “I think we will continue to see that become a main focus moving forward as the tools become more familiar and relevant.”
